Sometimes great things come in small sizes; this can be said about Natalie Peruvian Seafood Restaurant. Located off Hollywood Blvd but a safe distance away from the insanity that's associated with Hollywood, Natalie's is a small mom and pop shop that serves up so tasty Peruvian style cuisine.
First off PARKING in Hollywood is always a nightmare but luckily enough this place offers a modest amount of private lot parking that is shared with the neighboring Thai food place and 7-eleven. When my Mom and I first arrived the parking was all taken but we circled back around and found a spot. There's also neighborhood parking that isn't permit only so if at first you don't succeed, try again
The SERVICE was great! Our waitress was very courteous and got us water and complimentary bread promptly as we waited.
The FOOD was pretty darn tasty if I may say. I ordered the Saltado De Pollo (chicken strips sauteed with onions, tomatoes, french fries and served with steamed rice) and my mom ordered the Arroz Chaufa Especial A La Natalie (fried rice "peruvian style" with shrimps, squids, octopus, mussels, chicken and beef). The chicken was a mix of white and dark meat (mostly dark) a bit dry but was well seasoned and packed with flavor. The fries were crispy and of course the sautéed onions and tomatoes were a treat. And despite the not having the "freshest" ingredients this Peruvian dish was executed well. My mom REALLY enjoyed her Chaufa, it was packed with all types of seafood and meat. I tried it and loved the rice preparation; it was extremely fluffy and had a full-body of flavor. The Chaufa is certainly a safe choice to ease you into the cuisine of Peru.
Overall great experience and great price! For two meals we spent about $27 bucks. The proportions were generous so more than enough for leftover which tasted AMAZING...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favorite restaurants until my son and I were subjected to systematic racism here. I happened over a year ago but it effects me still to this day and I am sad that my son had to learn racism first hand outside of history books at this restaurant. We came into the place, I was very pregnant and needed to use the restroom badly, I rushed to the counter and asked for restroom key and the lady said it's only for customers. My son and I were coming there to eat from the jump, she gave us menus and my son had a seat and looked at the menu while I used the restroom. My son is a picky eater and he decided he didn't like anything on the menu and wanted McDonald's (🙄) instead. So I tell her I apologize but my son doesn't want to eat here and we will not be staying. She began a tyranny, saying I used the bathroom it's for paying customers only and I can't do that. I'm like ok?? I'll buy a diet coke? She proceeded to tell me they don't have diet and just regular and wanted to charge 6 dollars for a can of soda I can't even drink. I told her I wasn't going to pay that and I'll only give 3 for that. I tried to leave and not get the soda and she locked me and my 10 year old child inside the store and threatened to call the police if I didn't buy the soda. We went back and forth for a bit. I was at the point of calling the police myself because I felt so humiliated and violated. My son was scared. It was absolutely terrible. She let us out eventually. I loved eating here the food is great. This made me sad to have to depart this way. I had to explain to my son what racism is that day. I am crying right now recalling this...
Read moreSooo wanted this place to be my go to Peruvian place....close to home and all. Went with the kiddos after school, think there was a guy or two at separate tables. Decided I wanted to sit across the window. Well the server first of all didn't say hi, and us South Americans are well mannered in that sense where we always say hello, so I did. She removed her cell phone from the table I wanted to sit at. I got the sense that we imposed on her cell phone time as she was on the phone at the same table when we came in. Food was good, I say it like it is. But wow, never a smile, not even a can I get you even something. We had to ask for all. Take our order, bring us silverware, napkins, etc. When she heard our order, which was a plate for each of us. It was like if she was bothered, like it was too much. Maybe it was us but we won't come back. And at the end I had to take my sanitizing wipe out of my purse bc I felt like she wasn't up to being bothered if I asked her for napkin. I decided to wipe the end of the table with the same wipe bc I felt it sticky sliding off the bench and gross, it was sticky. Some black stuck filth at the edge of the table. My wipe was black of some dirt that came off the table on the wipe. That threw me off to...
