If I could give Tacos Calafia a ZERO star review I would, on the simple principle that their customer service is appalling, I was not satisfied with my order and requested a refund for the food I did not eat and they flat out refused, telling me it's my problem.
Aside from bottom of the barrel customer service, their food is exorbitantly expensive for the portion and quality you get. A small, barely filled "taco" is 2.99 EACH. The Mulita is basically a tiny greasy quesadilla for $5.99 (same size tortilla as the "taco"), Vampiro is pretty much a little meat on a tortilla chip for $5.49. I wish I was joking.
Additionally, what they don't tell you is if you order online for carry out (even through their website directly) the prices are inflated compared to if you had called in the order over the phone or placed it in-person.
I was searching for some super yummy street tacos tonight but couldn't remember or find any of the local pop up ones that set up in a parking lot typically. So I turned to TikTok in hopes to find a spot to try out for the first time. Came across Tacos Calafia and a lot of people seemed to recommend it, so I thought why not give it a try.
Little did I know what I was in for... once I picked up my order I was extremely disappointed in the portions and quality of what I had ordered. I was under the impression that for $40 I was ordering a meal for TWO. What I got was NOT THAT. I asked for my money back and they outright refused. They did not offer to make it right what so ever.
All in all if you're looking for good tacos that aren't a rip off, DO NOT GO HERE.

Read moreI did not eat here recently but i was confronted by a young white woman of about 16 -22 years of age.
She burst through the door and confronted me about what I was doing.
At the time, I was adjusting a polarizing filter on my camera. I tried to explain this, but she seemed uninterested in my response.
Instead, she insisted I shouldn’t take pictures of strangers in public because it was "creepy" especially because you are a man, as she put it.
For context, I am a brown man. While I understand her concern, part of me feels this was racially motivated. I’ve experienced similar public policing by white strangers before.
(The following reflects broader thoughts on this incident and related mistreatment in the U.S.):
Being followed while shopping.
Being kicked out of an open-air restaurant for being "too loud."
Being questioned while drinking "to ensure I’m not a weirdo."
Being ignored by bartenders and hosts—even when first in line—while white guests who arrived later were served.
Being flanked by store employees while another "explained a boot to me" (in case I ran off with one boot, I suppose).
Receiving minimal or poor job training while others got thorough, competence-building regimens.
Having to "look busy" when work is slow (while coworkers sit idle without scrutiny).
Having my car searched by police for "looking suspicious," with officers flanking me as if I’d flee then acting irritated when they found nothing.
Individually, these incidents seem minor. But collectively, they paint a clear picture of the sentiment toward minorities in the United States one that grows harder to ignore as I recognize more ways it...
Read moreThe carne asada vampiro was good but the tortilla was kind of stale much less so than the nopal for some reason. The nopal vampiro was ok. But it was barley seasoned. I like garlic and other things with my nopal not just boiled cactus flavor with no salt or pepper or anything but cheese and salsas I should have put the gauc on it honestly in hindsight. The nachos I got were good. Chips were amazing tho. The carne asada and the pastor was great. The nacho cheese was weak I would prefer something with real cheese. The guacamole was good nice smooth consistency and was seasoned well. My rating of the tortillas on the vampiros was terrible, the tortillas seemed stale they were like not tostada crispy or half crispy but we're like hard and chewy. Like it physically harmed the inside of my mouth. I have been here two times and I prefer to eat inside the restaurant as the take out missed an item on my order and it seemed less fresh. I did not bother to call or report this issue because time is money and a forgotten taco is not worth my time. The staff was very nice and the food was fresh dining in beside the vampiros tortillas so I'll chalk that up to a mistake. I'm at like 3.5 stars in an honest critics thought on these two meals and everything associated. Would I still come here...
