The king of toy stores is back! I love the new yet nostalgic approach where they are focusing on the experience for kids and family rather than just a simple shopping experience! The staff are super friendly. Sadly my only gripe is the size. I wished it was bigger like the good old days however this will do for now. Back in the day I remember so many events in store like yugioh tournaments and big game announcements, and even remembering this Star Wars event as a kid. I really hope that somehow events like that continue to be brought back as it really integrated the store as part of the community. It brought a sense of making friends with other kids my age and really made it a home growing up. So my excitement that toys r us is brought back was definitely worth a trip! My kiddo absolutely loves it too upon visiting. Please open up more locations, if possible in Washington perhaps both Seattle and Spokane? There is a dire need for the return of the best toy store brand ever! But for everyone else, please visit this store! It is amazing even though it’s a bit small. Also if any chance you can add a gaming section that would be awesome too! As a kid that was my favorite section and in a way it is the ultimate toy to some kids and also opens up to events to host to bring in...
Read moreAll I can say is Wow!!! Toys "R" Us and it's subsidaries like Baby R Us used to "pepper" the U.S. in the 70 thru the 90s. Was a great time to be a kid back then as Toys R Us would carry every toy imaginable. With that said.
I am truly surprised that Toys R Us is making a come back from bankruptcy, but in limited fashion. It seems that Toys R Us is opening stores in high value areas only with people that have high incomes. Mall of America is an excellent choice for this type of business model. But is sad that not everyone can afford the prices that this store charges for toys which in my opinion is "highway robbery".
I was there when this store first opened in MoA and checked it out to see if it was like Toys R Us of "old". It is definitely a different environment in that the toys are limited in scope of learning themes. Employees are nice and courteous from my first encounter with them. Would say this is not the Toys R Us of old.

Read moreThis is not the Toys “R” Us we grew up with. I was hyping it up so much to my 5 year old and was totally let down when we got there. It’s really small, I’d say about the size of two small MOA store fronts. The selection barely had more than a typical super target toy section, and worst of all, the prices were crazy! For specific examples, we mainly went in for Hot Wheels. A single car at Wal-Mart is $1.18 while it was $1.99 here and the 5 packs that are $5.99 everywhere else where $11.99! And they can’t say it’s higher because it’s the Mall of America, the Lego store is right down the hall and its prices are the exact same as other stores.
It appears to me it’s just another corporate attempt to hijack the nostalgia of our youth. I would avoid this store completely due to pricing and definitely not talk about it as something exciting for little kids to...
