We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and we had such a great time. There were 9 of us in the party and our two waitresses were almost impeccable with their service! They were knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations as it was the first time there for all of us! The atmosphere is really nice and the music they play will definitely catch your ear. Everyone in our party had such a great time! I will say, portions on the entrees were a little small. My entree was a decent size, but others at my table were disappointed with the portions of their food once it did come out.
Photo 1: Timorasso The waitress suggested this wine to me once I asked what was comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc. I really enjoy wine that is on the dry side and this selection was exactly what I was looking for!
Photo 2: Montenegro Select Aperitivo On this day aperitivos were half off, so I of course had to try one! This had a nice, bold flavor to it and wasn’t too sweet at all. I tried others at the table and I would highly recommend a date night around these drinks!
Photo 3: Octopus The presentation of their calamari was different than I had seen before, but it was well seasoned and delicious. The sauce was great and all the garnishes really added some different flavors when paired with the calamari! Would highly recommend!
Photo 4: Tagliatelle Alfredo To start, I added a pieces of blackened salmon to my entre and I was slightly disappointed for numerous reasons. The fish did not come out blackened. It was almost as if it was lightly seared, and the middle was too mushy for my liking. The added piece of salmon was an extra $30 on top of my $18 pasta. Of course I was expecting to pay extra for adding meat, but if I had know the salmon was going to be so much I would have ordered a second appetizer - for comparison, a second entree would have even been less than the added salmon. The pasta in itself was delicious and the sauce made you want to lick the plate...
Read moreAs someone who is a little bit skeptical of the food scene at Indianapolis, I was pleasantly surprised by this Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown. Not only was the service great, the spritz collection vast, and the menu diverse of surf and turf options- The Italian dishes were rich and delicious in a nuanced way compared to other Italian places I’ve been to. Honestly, me and my coworkers were surprised by just how good the food was for being an Italian place. Nowadays, it feels that the Italian category is overplayed and derivative, if not just lacking- however, it felt that Nesso definitely was an Italian restaurant that really knew what they were doing, and the food was telling of their experience and quality. I would definitely come back next time I’m in town for work. I really enjoyed my linguini Nero, everybody was packed with flavor and they didn’t skimp on the seafood. The lemon ricotta donuts were also a table hit, tiramisu did not miss, and the pistachio gelato was a plenty for only five dollars.
My UPDATED love note to Nesso; Dear Nesso,
I flew into Indianapolis with one mission, to relive my memory of a beautiful, delicious rendezvous with the linguini seafood pasta. It was just as delicious as I remembered, even if I got it to go. Even the fly at the hotel (I don’t even know how it got there) flew hundreds of meters to try to land on my pasta. I told it no, this is mine, it’s too good to share!!! I wish I had more room in my stomach to eat their donuts or pistachio, but I guess that means I’ll need to come back.
Seriously, if you were on the fence for Nesso, this is the love letter you needed to see. It had be thinking I was at a...
Read moreI always like to try somewhere a couple of times to make sure that I have a fully formed opinion because I know that there can be inconsistencies day to day in restaurants. That said, I have eaten at Nesso three times, and my experience has been the same each time. The restaurant itself is beautiful, one of Indy's nicest inside. We get stuck with many "restaurant catalog" places here, which is not exciting. The drink and wine menus are also some of the best for fine dining in the city. The sommelier is always knowledgeable and helpful when ordering wine, with many amazing choices. The service has always been great here as well overall. The issues for me consistently revolve around the food. The level of cuisine doesn't match the overall feeling this restaurant portrays. Our appetizers have been good each time. It was nothing amazing, but it was good for Indy. I was with four people the first time I went, and all four pasta dishes could have been better. The bolognese was very lemony, over-salted, and underdeveloped. I ordered a steak because I was playing it safe from the pasta. I had not enjoyed the times before, and the steak was chewy and over-salted. The most recent time I went, we were with a group of 8, and everyone I was with did not enjoy their entree. The level is not there for the price of dining here. When you spend hundreds of dollars on dinner and walk away not recommending anything at the table, there is a problem. I love many Cunningham restaurants, and this, unfortunately, is not...
