Walked in, immediately greeted by a server who offered for me to sit wherever, being there as a single person, the bar was fine.
Asked if I had ever eaten there, server made a newbie recommendation of the special platter. Fair enough. Sounds good price was okay. Ordered the yolk special and upgraded to a sweet specialty.
Over easy eggs, done to perfection. Perfectly runny yolks, no extra crispy edges just spot on eggs. Delightful. The sausage links it came with were very savory and tasty, skin lightly browned but no burns, I’m unsure if you can ask for them to be charred, I didn’t think to ask, but were exactly what I wanted for breakfast. The bacon it comes with is cooked all the way through, crispy throughout and no chewy fat, which is unfortunate, but allowed for them to be dipped into my egg yolks very easily.
I upgraded to the very berry French toast, it was exactly what it sounded like.
It consisted of mixed berries, blueberries blackberries and strawberries served on top of Greek yogurt and granola, on top of French toast.
Fruit was fresh and not too ripe or unripe. The flavors blended together exquisitely and the entire plating was crowded but visually appealing. It may have benefitted from the meats and eggs being served on a separate plate, but digress. Food was ordered and in front of me within 5 minutes of ordering.
Server was attentive. Visited on a Tuesday morning, with no special events in town, so this experience may not be the same depending on time of visit/local events.
Cutlery was a bit on the heavier and large side making it awkward for fine control of portioning while eating.
Specialty drinks were 6$ and fountain drinks were 3$
On the table are hot sauces one habanero and one regular, finely ground salt, pepper shakers and course ground salt. If you enjoy the hot sauce they sell the sauce as well.
The receipt did not have suggested tip amounts but did have a standard line for tipping. My order with 1 specialty drink, and 1 fountain drink, and the special platter upgraded came out to 30$
Very nice place to stop and have a comfy good tasting breakfast and the atmosphere makes for an excellent...
Read moreIf you are wanting a fast food joint, this is not the place to come. Be prepared to enjoy a great time/conversation with family and friends over mimosas or simply plain freshly squeezed orange juice while you wait for the most amazing brunch. Our family are eggs Benedict critics to the extreme. We’re from California where they have some of the best to offer; this is absolutely the place to go for any egg Benedict lover in the city. They give many great options and add interesting twists to the traditional egg Benedict, such as offering smoked salmon as an substitute option or even trying it with a waffle. Another favorite here is the Avocado Toast! Kids meals are very well proportioned. The service is excellent, everybody greets you with a smile, is very polite and provides you with the quickest service as possible available. Again, please do not get offended if you have to wait for a refill on drink or anything that YOU forgot to order. My best suggestion is to be prepared and organized with your ordering make sure to order everything you need from the beginning and maybe even what you will need ahead of time/next 30 mins or so, so everything flows smoothly. Have a plan. If you’re not ready at all and it’s your first time, kindly tell your server to their time so you can look over the menu (so many great options) and make sure to read what every meal comes with so in that way you don’t have to take up time deciding what options to choose from. Just a friendly reminder to make service quicker and more efficient. Good service comes from good customers who have great restaurant etiquette. And, always tip your server at least 20%, especially here. They really do go far and beyond to provide the best service. If you cannot afford tipping you cannot afford the luxury of eating at a “dinning” restaurant. So back to my first point, you want fast food and you cannot afford tipping, don’t go to Yolk, otherwise you will enjoy every...
Read moreProbably my new favorite place for breakfast! We decided to try out Yolk after reading some other reviews and knowing that it's something new in Downtown Indy. There is a lot of construction going on across the street with the new YMCA being built, so I feel that parking is a little harder to find (there is access off of Delaware St for public parking). We found a spot and headed in. When we walked in, this place is huge. Tons of tables and booths to comfortably seat any sized party. We were quickly shown to our table and our sever came over right away. She took our drink order and gave us plenty of time to be able to explore the menu and make our decisions...which is hard to do because they offer so much! Finally narrowed it down and placed our order. I decided to go with the cinnamon roll French toast with a side of bacon. My partner went with the build your own skillet with a side of red velvet French toast.
Our food came out pretty quickly and was everything that I was hoping for. My French toast was so delicious. Moist, flavorful, and all around delicious. I cannot stress how tasty the food was. The bacon was cooked to perfection too!! From what I gathered, the skillet was delicious and very cheesy. The red velvet French toast was very rich and had cream cheese in the center.
The food alone will make me go back again, and again! The service, on the other hand, was equally exceptional! Our waitress was very friendly, and personable. We did have to ask for a drink refill, but everything else was so awesome that I'll allow this to slide.
The dining room is very open, and has a very modern vibe to it. The booths have high backs, which makes it a little more private and blocks out conversations that may be happening behind you.
All in all, an awesome experience, and I will definitely be back again...and...
