So disappointed. This was my boyfriend and I first time trying taxman since we got a giftcard during Christmas. We didn’t feel like dining in since I’m not feeling well so we decided to order for pick up. We first tried to call to get more information about the meals and order on the phone so he could just go pick it up, we called about 6 times and not a single answer from the restaurant. I told my boyfriend to just go in and order in person. He gets there while we’re on the phone and we both can hear a phone ringing and my boyfriend said that the phone keeps ringing and no one is picking up even though the restaurant was empty. He placed the order and they told him that the wait time will be 15-20 min. While he waited, he was walking around the restaurant talking about how the both of us should definitely come dine in the next time we want to try the food there again. About 20 minutes later, he gets our orders and requested for sodas to go and I heard the employee Jacklyn A which was the server that took the order telling him that you guys ran out of to go cups and that the only option was to put the drinks in coffee cups! I was very shocked but I was hoping that the cups would at least be a decent size but instead we got our drinks in 2 small coffee cups as if we are kids. My boyfriends gets back home with the orders which was 2 burgers with fries since we ordering for pick up, we didn’t want to risk it and try something we wouldn’t like and decided to do a classic first. We both opened the to go box and burger patties still had a lot of pink and somewhat cold so we threw both of our burgers but I remembered to take a picture of what the fries looked which is attached to the review. We live 3 min away from the restaurant so it had not been too long since the food was picked up. Not only was the burger not the right temperature it should’ve been, the fries were dark burnt and hard as a rock and had the smallest portion of it, you would think it’s a kid order. I cannot make any of this up and I’m so frustrated because having to deal with this result when you have been sick and are trying to eat your first meal of the day to give yourself some energy is pitiful. I called the restaurant back 4 times right after to report this and no one bothered to answer the phone AGAIN. We both are very speechless by this because if we wanted mediocre food, we would’ve gotten fast food instead. You only get one chance to make a good impression to a customer and this was...
Read moreI love Taxman Cityway and Taxman is my favorite microbrewery in not just Indianapolis, but Indiana. Unfortunately, I will not choose and recommend to go to this location anymore underneath Miss Jackie’s or Jacqueline’s leadership. She is the GM of this location.
I walked into the location without a mask, sat down quickly to enjoy my service. As an Asian American, I do not have a problem wearing a mask and have faced plenty of prejudice due to COVID-19 being associated to Asian-Americans. However, Miss Jacqueline did not lead her staff by example, and her cooks and dishwash personnel were not wearing masks either. If she has these expectations of her customers, her personnel/staff should also follow proper protocol. I paid good money to enjoy my time and be peaceful from the day-to-day stress that all humans endure, but I was harassed by someone who did not lead her staff by example. I would not recommend going to this location based upon the ignorant experience I unfortunately endured. Thank you for reading.
Google does not allow users to respond to an owner's response, so I am providing it here.
The response provided by the management staff was not accurate in the way it depicted me. I did not wear a mask going to the bathroom. I understand that premise.
However, I did tip my waiter, where she's wrong again, and she's lying on Reviews to maintain the integrity of this location. If you do not believe me ma'am, go ask him if I tipped him, because I did (tipped him well).
Furthermore, I did not hold the mask in my hand, I left it at the bar before I walked 20 feet to the door. Don't lie on this platform to maintain your image. Lead by example, and actually have the integrity to tell the truth.
Also, if a business owner wants to preach about local public health orders, her and her staff should lead by example. Having your mask down around your neck is not a proper way to wear a mask. The cooks in the back (making your food) not wearing masks at all are not proper ways to wear a mask. Pulling your mask down to talk is not a proper way either (if you want to live and abide by those rules).
Lastly, I never argued with your team here. So again, don't lie on a platform to uphold your image. Take responsibility for what actually happened. I fully acknowledge I did not wear a mask to go to the bathroom, but if you expect it from your customers, we as customers expect it...
Read moreI hosted a "return to work" dinner party there for 18 guests. I called a few days before and spoke to a "manager". I explained that I had a group of approximately 30 people I wanted to invite but I anticipated that no more than 20 people would be able to attend. I explained what we would be purchasing (how much per person we were going to spend) and that we wanted to start around 4 PM with most people arriving by 5 PM and we would only be there a couple of hours after that. That manager was very agreeable but asked me to come in and leave a credit card as an assurance we would keep the reservation and I complied. When we actually arrived for the reservation we were treated rudely and made to understand that this arrangement was unacceptable. I explained that I talk to the "manager" a couple of days ago and filled out a form. The person I spoke to pointed their finger at their chest and said "Well, I am the manager and did the person you spoke to go over our large reservation policy?" I relayed again exactly the above but they continued to be rude and made us feel like we were imposing on them for the entire night.
Overall, the food and drink was mediocre at best and the place never filled. Within an hour of my initial arrival we had 18 people ordering a significant amount of food and drink and we were gone by around 6:30 PM.
I should relate that our server was wonderful. Apologized for the rudeness of the manager multiple times.
Won't be back. Plenty of other local places that - pre-pandemic - we went to frequently. Thought we would give this new place a try....
