I ordered a raspberry turnover $5 and a coconut macaroon $3. I wanted to order another pastry but the customer in front of me got the last one. If you want a large selection then you'll want to come early because Danish Bakery is a sell until they're out business and they go fast. I arrived later in the day but the selection was better than I expected. The pastry was very light and flaky, with a rich raspberry filling. The filling wasn't overfilled which was nice, and the rich flavor made each bite taste like the perfect ratio of berry, softness, and crispy buttery turnover. The top was covered in swedish pearl sugar and gave it a pleasant crunch and some extra sweetness. Well worth the five dollars. The macaroon was surprisingly soft and pulled apart to reveal a very moist and creamy center. It had a strong vanilla-cream taste to it and was also quite good. It is nothing like the dried out macaroons you will find at grocery stores. I was hesitant to pay $3 a cookie for more than one, but after trying it I think I should have gotten a few more. The service was good, but only one worker who seemed tired and a little stressed. The line was moving slower than it should in a bakery and I think they really need to have another barista helping out. The store, while cute and matching the towns Bavarian theme, was very small and you had to pardon your way through the line to see the second glass case, then pardon your way back to get in line. Not much seating. I think they could benefit from a different layout in the store where you see all the displays before finally ordering. And the floor space is so little that even if there was seating available I wouldn't have wanted to sit inside because there would be customers looking over your shoulder the whole time. But if you're planning on just going in, ordering, and leaving then this place is great!...
Read moreThis was our favorite bakery in all of the Washington and became the first place would stop when visiting Leavenworth to get a true Bavarian Pretzel and a proper Danish... However, today when we stopped in for those amazing reminiscent flavors, we got just plain doe... The danish tasted like it was made 3 days ago and the pretzel was just bread with salt on it. Pretzels are brown in color, slightly crispy with a soft inside and distinctive flavor, but this time they were a light bread color. I didn't think anything of it until I sat down and bit into it an realized this place has lost it's mojo!! Did ownership change? Did they think we wouldn't notice that they'd cheapen their product? I don't know why everything tasted different, but their quality no longer warrants the line out the door. Eventually, more people will realize what we did today and this place will be toast and not the...
