I am writing this review only with regards to service and to bring out an important point for anyone with food allergy visiting here . My kid has a nut allergy and I make sure that I tell this to the staff whenever I buy icecream from any ice cream shop. But my experience here was disheartening. I have visited Leavenworth for so many times and always saw a queue in this shop. This time I took the chance and stood in queue for over 30 minutes to get in with my child. As others have said, there is always a queue here. Still I waited and when finally got my turn, told the staff that my kid had a nut allergy so if he can give a clean scoop of strawberry ( I confirmed it was nut free with him) . He mentioned that it’s the same facility and could be cross contaminated, whereby I confirmed him that I am aware and if he can open a clean box and share a clean scoop, that’s all I need. ( this is what all icecream shop staff does for anyone with any allergy). He mentioned he cannot open a clean box and he could give a scoop with what is already out on counter. I respectfully denied it as that is not how it is supposed to be. I went out with a crying kid, went across the road to another Icecream shop, next to a bakery and said the same thing. - that my kid has allergy and can you give a clean scoop. The lady got my ask and she went inside, without questions , opened a fresh box and gave one cone to me. Pretty straight forward. I did not have to explain anything and that is how it is supposed to be. My point is, if you cannot serve to people with food allergy, just write that clearly so that nobody is disappointed after standing in queue for that long. I know all shops write a disclaimer that cross contamination is possible ( this one had too) and believe me every parent is aware of it. But they try !! They try to make customer satisfied and try their best to address the ask. I have had ice cream at so many shops , big and small across cities, but this was my first. !! Everyone else happily opens a clean box and gives a clean scoop! How to address special requests is something the staff here...
Read moreFirst off, let me start by saying this: It is worth it. On Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, my family tried Whistlepunk. I was skeptical about waiting in a long line for ice cream that probably tastes like everything else on Main St. but it truly is the real deal. From the ice cream itself to the fresh-baked cones, what you get is something a couple steps above a normal ice cream experience.
My wife, two kids (8 y.o. and 5 y.o.), and I all ordered items from Whistlepunk. My kids opted for Bertha’s caramel brownie while my wife and I each ordered the maple pecan. And not only did I just order the maple pecan for me but I also ordered cookies-n-dreams, too. You see, Whistlepunk does something really cool where you can “split” a regular scoop and get two flavors. I heard that to do this it once cost 50 cents but it is now free. However, even if the 50-cent fee still applied it would be totally worth it. I am including a photo in this review that shows my cone after I had enjoyed half of it. You will see that both the maple pecan and cookies-n-dreams flavors are absolutely packed with their respective signature items (pecans and cookies). Sometimes ice cream will be scarce with the fillings but not at Whistlepunk.
Something else that isn’t scarce are the servings. I ordered just a single scoop but my delicious waffle cone was completely jammed with yummy ice cream. The same can be said for my wife’s cone. The kids loved their treats and I did too (because I definitely tried them haha). Quick rundown on prices: Our total came to $27.69 which I agree is a little pricey. Our single scoops were just $5.50 but our cones were $1.75 each. The scoops for our kids were just $4.50 but the toppings (they each got one) were $1 each. However, for a special dessert on vacation, the price truly was worth it. If you are on vacation in Leavenworth, I highly recommend giving Whistlepunk...
Read moreI am going to rate this place as a 3, but there is a caveat. Read on for the details!
The service here was horrible. The 4 teenagers working the counter had absolutely no understanding of basic customer service. There was a line out the door, and they were pausing to talk with one another, look at their phones, take a drink of their own shake, and generally not moving with any sense of urgency. They made me, as a customer, feel as if I were a burden to them.
Apart from that, the ice cream was absolutely amazing! I had cookies and dream and chocolate caramel brownie in a waffle cone with buttered pecans as a topping. It was quite a large scoop for both, and it was impressive to look at, as indicated by the ooooh's and aaaaah's from onlookers as I was walking past the line of people waiting to get in. The caramel was thick, brownie pieces were big and plentiful, and lots of Oreos in the cookies and dream scoops. Waffle cone was a little heavier, but crisp and flavorful, with just a hint of cinnamon.
So, the product is amazing, but there probably needs to be a bit more leadership and training from the management about hustling and taking care of...
