A pleasure to have had the opportunity to dine at Viscontiās while away in Leavenworth.
Atmosphere and ambiance; in light of this 2020 !@#$%^&-Show and the imposed Draconian Forced IDIOT rules; was awesome. Viscontiās managed well.
Off the Soap box. We started with two drinks, a Gasping Tanqueray Martini, and a Tuaca Raspberry Lemondrop. OK, A Gasping Tanqueray Martini is impossible to Fāup, on the other hand Tuaca Raspberry Lemondrop was outstanding. We were pleased to have fresh bread and their own Olive Oil Vinaigrette herb dip, fantastic. We then shared a Classic Spinach Salad. Well prepared and substantial in portion for two to share easily. Dinner was cooked exceptionally well to order. The Spouse choose the Penne Sausage/Mushroom Pasta and I had the Rack of Lamb Bloody (AKA Rare), with whipped potatoes and seasonal veg. We family styled dinner, Pasta was great, sauce was a Cream and Marinara; seasoned well. The Lamb, first it was a full rack. COOKED to My/our liking as ordered (Bloody); would have been just a tad better if the outside were seared on Cast Iron before finishing, nonetheless I need to emphasize cooked to order, Potatoes well-seasoned, and the Veg hot but still crisp, just awesome.
Side note to Viscontiās and hell any other Restaurant/Bar out there. The Tanqueray was noted as being $9⦠But again for some inconceivable and unjustifiable reason, just because the bartender pours Ice into a shaker, adds the Tanqueray; Spills the vermouth on the floor (hence Gasping), puts a lid on it then shakes it 9 times, strains the contents into a Martini Glass, adds three olives; the olives were really good; WHY the hell is it now 14 Dollars. Next time Iāll save the āFinā and order Tanqueray Rocks and keep the āFinā. Rant over.
OVER ALL - Value to Price is well above 1.
Now in light of the Fān COVID again, Viscontiās was full for the entire evening. That being said, with no reservations, we secured and ended up being seating in ~8min; note it was still off season and a Thursday. I wouldnāt plan on doing this on a Fri/Sat or during peak Holiday season(s), If you want to enjoy a meal donāt do what we did, then we typically donāt pre-reserve
Being that this was our first meal at Viscontiās and it was wonderful they are getting a rare 5Stars. I donāt think the rating will change the next time we visit Leavenworth and enjoy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wish I had something more positive to say about this restaurant, because the food was genuinely delicious and our trainee waiter was incredibly sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience left a lot to be desiredāand frankly, Iāve never felt more uncomfortable in a dining setting.
From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted but rather questionedāāWhy are you here?ā No āHello,ā no āHow many in your party?ā Just an abrupt and unwelcoming tone. The host sat us with an attitude, setting the tone for the evening.
Shortly after, another staff member brought water and bread, and she carried the same dismissive and irritated demeanor. She slammed down plates and glassesānot just at our table, but throughout the restaurantāand made it feel like serving us was a burden. She only refilled one water glass despite two others being completely empty, and again, did so with clear attitude.
Our trainee waiter was the only bright spot. He picked up on how uncomfortable we felt and genuinely tried to turn things around, even engaging in small talk to ease the tension.
There was also an odd situation with one of our drink orders: we were given two alcohol options, selected one, and were then told the drink couldnāt be made with that specific brand (not type) of alcoholānot because they didnāt have it, but because the bar manager didnāt think it suited the drink. If it wasnāt acceptable, it shouldnāt have been offered in the first place.
By the time our food arrived, we had been waiting over an hour, despite placing our order early on. We received our drinks about 20 minutes before the food, and during the entire wait, we noticed several unfriendly stares and uncomfortable glances from multiple staff membersāagain, with the exception of our waiter.
Ultimately, while the food and drinks were excellent, the overall atmosphere and poor service made it a very unpleasant experience. For a restaurant charging high-end prices, the service should absolutely match. We couldnāt wait to pay our...
Ā Ā Ā Read more4 adults with reservations. Once seated water came quickly. Server came for appetizer and drink orders. We ordered two appetizers and one ginger ale. Server left. Server came back and asked about dinner orders. Two members ordered a first course, 1 salad, one soup, we also placed entree orders. We did not yet have the appetizers or ginger ale, when asked server said they were coming, but kitchen was backed up due to a large party. First food that arrived were the first courses for the two members. We asked about our appetizers and beverage, we were told, oh yes they are just taking longer - backed up. Salad appetizer was fine, no pepper offered. Soup was only a half of a soup cup and was lukewarm. We specifically asked to NOT receive our entrees before our appetizers and were told that would not be a problem as they were so "backed up". Appetizers arrived about 5 minutes later. Inquired again about ginger ale, when it was delivered a few minutes later we were told that the bar had to "make" it and they were backed up. Entree dishes all arrived at the same time (good thing), no parmesan cheese offered even though all 4 were pasta dishes. All of the pasta dishes were only lukewarm. Gnocchi was cooked separately from the Bolognese sauce and many had no sauce at all as sauce was just ladled onto the plate, member ate about 1/5 of plate and did not take any home. Cannelloni were less than lukewarm inside, had to be cut with a knife and sauce was spooned around outside of plate, member only ate one of the 3 on the plate. The other two pasta dishes also had only 1/4 eaten. Really disappointed, our prior experiences and food were excellent. But this experience was not timed well, and entrees were really not edible. There were enough servers in the dining room, we were told the problem was the large party. Not sure why they would take other reservations if a party of "almost 100" was coming and they knew it would be a food and bar...
