On Thursday 11/9, I went here and ordered a gyro entree and extra gyro meat. The woman was super nice. This wasn't my first time here. In all my years of living in dtla I have been here a ton, sometimes multiple days in a week so i know what their food tastes like. I also order the same thing everytime. Usually the food is on point but tonight for some reason the food was extra salty and greasy specifically the Gyro meat.

I had ordered a to-go order so unfortunately I did not realize until I arrived at home. It was so salty it was inedible. I called right away.the woman I had ordered from answered. I explained and she told me it may be based on personal taste, I told her I like salty food and this was not a personal taste the food was so salty you can't eat it. I also eat there often so I know the food. Then she said they probably switched meat providers and said she would talk to the manager she took my info and let me know the manager will call me tomorrow. I asked if I should bring the food or what should I do with it. She told me no and that the manager would call me.

Of course, they did not. I called in the morning on Friday. The gentleman I spoke with said he spoke with the woman and spoke with the manager and that the manager knows what they are going to do and will call me today. I said ok because i have the food and I can bring it. Je said the mansger will call me(lowkey left that phone call thinking that was the manager)

Waited for the call, still nothing. I am about to travel so I called again in late afternoon and the other woman that worked there actually did the most to try to help. I wasn't able to come down anymore that evening but I offered to bring it Saturday morning as I didn't want it to rot in my fridge while I'm gone. She took my info called the manager to see if she could refund me so I didn't need to come down maybe I could just send a photo.

The manager that was supposed to call me and resolve it, but just didn't and they don't work weekends.

The manager told her that because I did not bring the food back the same day I couldn't get a refund, I could only get a credit. Normally, that would be totally fine but I am moving out of the state in less than a month. I also told the woman that I had asked the person on Thursday night if I should bring it back and was told NO and the gentlemen I spoke to that supposedly spoke to the manager and the woman from Thursday did not tell me to bring it back either. She explained that the woman from Thursday was new. Which explains a lot because she got my order wrong but it happens and I am not one to complain when something like that happens on a take away order.

The woman from Friday said she will call the manager back so they can call me directly to get this resolved. I said that works this isn't your fault and thank you for trying to help. Please let the manager know I will be waiting by my phone. It is about 730 pm at this point. Did I get a call....nope. It is Saturday 11/11 after 3pm PST have I gotten a call...NOPE and unfortunately I leave for a trip soon.

This manager is just shady and obviously the food has gone down hill so save yourself the time, effort and energy. There is Anwar's nearby which has better food, better service and apparently better management.

I rarely leave reviews but since you are making me waste $35.00 I can at least save someone else the money.

I will keep reposting this review so everyone can be aware of the shady Manager at George's that won't fix a loyal...

After 8 years of being a loyal customer I found out today that they took away the one dish I fell in love with. R.I.P Chicken Spinachi Sandwich. I often came to this place even though their oldest worker was often rude. Guess there's no reason to come back now. Maybe one day they'll decide to bring it back. Until then....

*Edit: I did ask the girl at the register if there was any way I could have the dish remade. She said my only options were the vegetarian option and the Spanikopita, which is not something I really wanted because I have tried them both, in one case it was due to my order being taken down incorrectly... and while the Spanikopitas are good they are not a full meal. Could you clarify what you mean by "JUST ASK SUPPORT LOCAL," because from what I'm aware of your workers in the restaurant should've been able to accommodate based on what you are saying. And I've never heard of asking "support local".

The only reason why you guys had my loyalty was for that one specific sandwich. And the last couple of times my orders needed to be remade because if it wasn't the cooks preparing my order incorrectly it was the people taking the orders down getting my order wrong. I still stayed loyal. Your eldest worker would often seem bothered when I called these situations to his attention the last couple of times. At some point he even became a little hostile when I was simply asking for my order to be made correctly. Never mind the attitude I received for asking for some extra sauces. Which I was more than willing to pay for. With all due respect, the change in your menu was the cherry on top of the dessert as to why the restaurant went from being a solid 4-5 star to a 1 star. There is no reason for me to go back...the service isn't there and now neither is the one item I would go back for.

The review I gave your restaurant back in 2019 where I gave you guys 4-5 stars was because you definitely had a great cooking staff. Some who i personally enjoyed coming to see. Even if the people at the registers took down my order wrong the cooks knew my order by memory so they just knew what to serve me or would double check with me that my order hadn't changed. The attention to the customer was there. Now its nothing like that. It's the opposite. I do hope you understand and i hope you take these words into...
