My boyfriend and I went out for dinner here because I wanted duck and Thai food basically. I had a semi horrible experience here. One of the server was extremely rude to me. She got my order wrong and made assumptions that I wanted the duck noodle when I ordered a duck curry. She didn't give me any time to speak up and accept the duck noodle even though it wasn't what I wanted and took the dish away immediately. It absolutely felt like a very hostile environment for me to be in. Also being able to witness her yelling at the cooks with a bad tone didn't make any experience there for me better. I lost my appetite at that very moment and almost broke down in tears and I'm sure my boyfriend saw that because he kept asking if I was okay and if I needed to step outside. I felt awful because I never wanted our night to turn out that way. Aside from the horrible service from one of the servers, I grew up with eating a lot of Thai food and this place definitely is one of the best real authentic Thai food I have ever had in America so far. So thank you to the cooks for bringing home cooked Thai food back into my life and allowing me to share this experience with my boyfriend who never had real authentic Thai food. It definitely bought me back home to my mom's cooking and made me happy. I definitely would give it a 5 stars, but that server really did a number for me. I definitely recommend the food, but absolutely do not recommend dining in at the moment. Maybe down the years, I would give it another chance to dine in, but from now on... I rather go through take out so I don't have to deal with a bad server. Definitely a great place to get authentic Thai food. Do take my word for it and go get some if you miss your parents Thai...
Read moreAfter spending quality time selecting dinner, the website delivery option stopped me from ordering, said, "delivery address outside of delivery service." We are .8 (yes 8/10ths) of a mile away. So, I decided to try to ordering online for pickup. But that didn't work either- even on multiple browsers and reloads. So, interested in the 'best Asian food around,' I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and call the order in. Delivery took 44 mins, driver got lost (coming to the Marriott!) and we have not even mentioned the food yet. If this is what is considered "the best Asian food in Twin Falls" . . . the worst would be absolutely scary. The only thing that was actually good was the peanut dressing sauce on the salad. Even though I have had better salads at McCafe- no joke. The salad was overpriced scraps. Next in line, the Thai Fried Rice. How hard is it to make good fried rice? What makes fried rice good is the browning-caramelization, that is where all the flavor comes from. Sadly, it was white, bland, and as boring as can be imagined when boiled. All it would have taken is 3 mins on a hot wok and bam- so easy. Zero veg and so little egg, it was sad actually. There was way too much steamed (?) onion, but again, it was boiled and lame- oh so nice to caramelize it a bit. Lastly, the Pad See Ew (should be called: Sad Pee Ewe) was tainted, dry and another big disappointment. Save your $35 bucks and eat a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, you'll be...
Read moreI have no idea how this restaurant received 4 plus star. I realize that Twin Falls is not an epicenter of Asian culture, but I am definitely wondering if all the good was prepared by someone who never had Thai food, but read about it and made it the way they thought it should be. Being from Seattle, I am judging by the level of cuisine available in our area.
We ordered green curry and the garlic shrimp. The curry was described as having peas, carrots, eggplant, and basil. The peas and carrots were obviously taken from a bag of frozen peas and carrots that you buy from the grocery for less than a dollar a bag. Not fresh vegetables! Really? Not sure if the few tiny pieces of eggplant were really eggplant. And there was one leaf of basil that tasted more like cooked spinach. I doubt it was the traditional darker purple Thai basil. The curry itself tasted like very thin broth with a little curry paste and a dab of coconut milk.
The garlic shrimp was at least not over cooked, but very small portion and no garlic pieces discernable. Maybe they used garlic powder?
I hope that if you choose to go out in Twin Falls that you don't eat at "Taste of Thai", because you would be mislead as to what Thai food is about. Thai food is made with fresh ingredients and well balanced flavors. I would recommend you visit an area or restaurant where Thai people cook the meals. Try another cuisine or stick to American food instead...
