Pizza Novara — Restaurant in Bloomington

I had a basic NY slice of pepperoni pizza and Buffalo wings that weren’t bad but they weren’t anything special to return for. The chicken skin was oddly tough. The staff/atmosphere wasn’t welcoming at all… it was a weird energy and everyone seemed to have stank faces on. There wasn’t anyone at the register but a manager looking guy wearing a dress shirt just walked past without acknowledging me. When a person came, I told the guy who took my order I’ve never been here before and he’s just like “okay….” And looked at me… Usually that’s the time when people do a brief highlight or recommendations. So I ordered the slices then he’s like this is your total without asking if I wanted anything else. When I said I also wanted wings he gave me a look and canceled the payment thing. Did not get asked if I wanted my receipt or how do I know when my order is ready so I just went to sit down. I sat down at a table wishing I went to moa Delano bros for my slice. Not friendly at all, I would’ve just placed an online order if I knew they don’t like talking to customers instead of feeling uncomfortable. Nobody smiled at all and I even got a dirty look from a woman behind the counter while walking back up to grab Parmesan packets after my Togo order was given to me. Also the guy put the bag in front of me and said HERE then ran away lol no have a nice day or hey the Parmesan and pepper packets are up front. I felt like I entered somewhere I didn’t belong. Pizza Nova is an excellent place to enjoy a delicious meal in a welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the friendly and helpful staff, who made me feel right at home. The service was attentive, and they were quick to answer any questions I had about the menu.

I decided to try the chicken Parmesan, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked, with a crispy breaded coating that complemented the rich, flavorful tomato sauce. The melted cheese on top was just the right amount, adding a creamy texture to the dish. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portion size was generous without being overwhelming.

We ordered a sausage pizza to go. The sausage was exceptional, delicious, fresh, and not greasy. The only improvement in the minds of our entire party was the somewhat lackluster crust. We all agree it needs improvement. Overall, our party of six enjoyed the pizza and would give Pizza Novato another chance. I would definitely work on the flavor profile and texture of the crust. It was the right thickness though. The price point was moderate. It is still hard to believe to purchase a large pizza for $20—the base cheese pizza for $17 plus an additional $3 for the sausage added.

There are large high end frozen pizzas at home in Chicago like Home Run Inn for under $7 that are better. So for $20, a pizza needs to be amazing.
