Seriously, if they're calling that opening "soft"...I'm scared of what their "hard" has to entail. Seeing as I will be investing a lot of time and money in this location, I should probably get ahead of the game and buy their stock now because it's about to steal a lot of business from all the surrounding coffee shops.
The Italian Process
Just how I like it. Come in, order your drink with the barista, get your pastries, then pay at the end. Just like how pumping gas used to be back in the day, if you don't understand that reference, you're too young and you should probably stop reading this. With tender love and care, each drink is made by the person you order it one by one handcrafted with love. There's no machine, no automatic button, just your barista pouring scolding hot water over your coffee beans and letting it slow drip for every individual cup of coffee that leaves that door. Now that's freakin' boss!
A Word from the Wise
To all you coffee newbies out there, don't get suckered into drinking a "Light Roast" thinking it's light in caffeine, it's just light in taste. Most of them are actually stronger in caffeine. Very much the opposite of how you would order your beer. So be aware of those "lighter" coffees...you just may end up wasting your entire afternoon in your boss' office chatting about how koalas are not actually bears at all but marsupials, which means that their young are born immature and they develop further in the safety of a pouch.

Read moreI usually love coming here but today was extremely frustrating. I ordered a large mint mojito and after 20 mins of waiting they gave me a small. I told her I ordered a large she said it says small. I told her I definitely ordered a large. She looked at me then said I needed to go talk yo the cashier (as if she didn't believe me and I was trying to get a large when I paid for a small). Then she goes up to the cashier he says I'm sorry that was my fault and says it's on him (paying for a large instead of a small). 10 more mins pass by and I go in and see her handing other people drinks. I ask her if mine is coming up she says rudely rolling her eyes that they are backed up and yes. I don't understand how them being backed up has to do with my drink I already waited in line and waited my turn once she knew it was wrong she should have immediately started remaking my drink not moving onto the best order. She slams my drink with an attitude and of course it's disgusting tastes nothing like a mint mojito. It tastes like a horrible cup of black coffee. I then have to go back in there and ask them to remake my drink even though I don't understand why she was frustrated iand rude in the first place. 30 mins later my drink is finally ready. I never leave reviews but this is how annoyed I am. She had no right to assume and be mad and rude for the cashiers mistake. I did...
Read moreThis is the Philz I live close to and regularly visit all the time. I always order the mocha tesora; some of the baristas always get it spot on and are not as good as making the drink but they have always had a kind reputation to make readjustments to make the perfect drink.
However… today I had a really negative experience with two baristas! 😕 As usual they ask the customer to taste the drink for readjustments before they take it away. I ordered a medium mocha Tesora and after they asked me to taste, I politely asked for some more chocolate powder mixed in.
The two baristas look visibly annoyed and started laughing. I didn’t see why it was such a big deal but one of the baristas told me next time to order a medium or large instead because they have more chocolate powder. I told her I already ordered a medium and in response she told me to order a large next time because it has more chocolate powder. This wouldn’t make sense to begin with because for every drink size up the increased scoops of chocolate would be proportionate to the size of the drink.
They were both laughing at me in an unfriendly manner from beginning to end while mixing my drink which made me feel bad for even ordering. Most of the baristas are kind here are really good at making drinks but some...
