Read moreCame here on a whim for a late dinner. It's a short walk down from my hotel in Midtown, about ten minutes.
Service is limited. You walk up to the counter to order, they bring the food to your table. And you pay first too. I don't think the gruff old lady minds if you tip accordingly.
Cooking is a bit slow. I find anything kebab based tends to add more to the cooking time(which is fine if that's what you need to make good food), which in this case was in excess of twenty minutes. I was solo, which made the time pass that much slower.

Read moreIn a city of endless culinary pursuits, Tengri Tagh Uyghur Cuisine offers not just a meal, but a transportive experience to Silk Road cuisine. Tucked away and unassuming, this establishment is a testament to the artistry of Uyghur cooking, presenting a purity of flavor that is without rival in Manhattan. The heart of the menu beats in its handmade noodles, a spectacle of texture and craft. Pulled to order, these supple, chewy strands form the foundation for the kitchen's masterwork: the lamb lagman. This is a dish of stunning harmony. Tender lamb, with the aromatic warmth of cumin, is stir-fried with a vibrant medley of peppers and onions, all clinging to those magnificent noodles. It is a rustic, soulful, and refined plate that speaks of centuries of tradition that fed countless merchants on the Silk Road. While other dishes beckon, it is the lagman that will live in your memory. For its unwavering dedication to craft and for presenting a singular, perfect dish that defines a cuisine, Tengri Tagh is an essential destination for any serious diner....
