One of the worst workout experiences I have had. The sculpt class I took was extremely awkward. There was very little cues, no rhythm to the class. The instructor was monotone, low energy, seemed like a robot. The instructor wandered around the class, clapping off beat and seemed lost. The flows were clunky and seemed like she was always searching for what to say next. The music did not match the tone of the exercise we were doing. Needs a lot more practice at saying cues and working through the rhythm and energy of the class…. This was not even the worst of it… The studio was extremely dirty (which I have to say not many LA corepowers are very clean) but this was especially gross. The studio itself smelled like urine. Then in the women’s bathroom both toilets were out of order and the bathroom was a mess. Not to mention there were men working in the bathroom so if you wanted to change you had to just pull the shower curtain over with them in there trying to fix the toilet. I feel like if there are no working facilities probably a sign to just close the studio for the day and get things in order. I will never ever come back to this studio. I have taken hundreds of workout classes in my life and this was one of my worst...
Read moreGreat central location with great Yoga practitioners. The sequencing isn't always quite sequential as I prefer but the flows are still great and well coordinated. You can expect the same sequencing some weeks which can be great at times as our human selves do appreciate things that are familiar.
I generally prefer slower gentle flows and this location meets somewhere in the middle with that which has worked out. Studio is heated but not too hot like some heated Yoga locations.
Hence the name, the studio does focus on the core area for part of the workout which is great as I think the core is an essential that is often overlooked. Besides this studio I've also enjoyed Boheme studio in DTLA and some other gym studios and wellness sessions offered by the locality.
Overall, good central location with great teachers. Would recommend and they do accept HSA (and FSA?) which is a nice bonus. Invest in yourself...
Read moreOverall, I love corepower yoga. It has been very beneficial to me in terms of emotional regulation, resilience, and mindfulness. However a concern I have is with Ken J. At the beginning of the class he asks to raise your hand if you don’t want to be touched and on two occasions, I have raised my hand and on two occasions I have been touched anyway. It put me on edge and was triggering for me. In addition, in the most recent class yesterday, he spoke about how we should thank our abusers for the things they’ve done to us. In addition, he was talking poorly and in a judgemental manner about a member who had tight hips, but doesn’t stretch on a regular basis. Yoga class is meant to be a “safe” space where we can feel comfortable. I do not feel this way when I’m in a class with Ken J and I won’t be returning to his...
