Momi Sushi — Restaurant in Los Angeles

This was the first sushi meal of three that I would be partaking in the next three days.

The location is small (extremely small) and not set up very well for dining. More for take out and die hard groups of 2. There are actually only 4 tables to sit 2 per table. However, the owners or operators are very nice and they were able to accommodate a party of five. For that and the awesome food I gave them a great tip.

The sushi we ordered totalled more than $200. I’d have to say that it was super tasty. No issues with quality at all. However, quantity wise, all the rolls were what I would consider half the size or maybe a little bit more than half the size of normal rolls elsewhere. We would have been easily able to be full from $200 elsewhere but we were unable able to achieve that here.

I’d have to say that if you’re in for excellent and exquisitely made sushi, then this is the place for you. If you’re looking for a full blown meal to fill your belly then you’d better be prepared to spend at least 50% more than normal anywhere else.

At one point, the smoking of the eel sauce made the entire group of people in the restaurant have a coughing fit. Maybe this is normal there but it was definitively a first time for me.

We spent all day traveling from alabama and when we finally got settled, we decided we could really use some sushi. Best decision we could have made. The workers(owners?) were the most accommodating and friendly people we could have hoped for. We are clueless about how to get around town without having to take out a second mortgage, so they WALKED DOWN THE STREET TO GET THE BUS SCHEDULE FOR US. That is going to save us southerners a ton of money, time, and frustration. They didn't have to do that, but they did it for us anyhow.

The sushi is perfect of course, so let's get that out of the way. It was so good that, even after eating until we were stuffed, we ordered another large roll to take to the room so we could relive the experience later.... but now we're regretting not getting two.

I’m a big eater. I ordered 3 featured rolls, and they were very deliciously prepared. Thuan the owner is so friendly and knowledgeable with high standards. He makes his own unique sauces, but he’s a purist so if you like extra sauce, just ask. Same with spicy tuna, I like to feel a little heat, so just let him know, otherwise, like I said, he’s a purist and the sushi is def on point. He is the chef and sushi is his passion, and he’ll let you know it, so if the appreciation is there, he’ll show you some love with a complimentary sample. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for mindful eating, whether alone, or with a friend. Not a place for a big party, there’s not enough room for that. I come here for the best sushi without inflated prices to cover the overhead. Atmosphere gets 5 stars for friendliness, and...
